The city of Clarkson this week set the ribbon cutting ceremony for its William Walker Building.
As work nears completion on the new community building located in the Clarkson City Park, the Clarkson City Commission on Monday voted to set the rental fees for it, as well as the date of its ribbon cutting celebration.
Officials chose to keep the rental fee the same as that of the Clarkson Community Center: $200 per day with a $100 deposit.
“I think it’s well worth $200,” said Clarkson Mayor Bonnie Henderson, of the building.
City Commissioner Joyce Bell suggested raising the community center rental fee, but Commissioner Ed Schott and Henderson both felt the rates should stay the same for now — at least until after Jan. 1.
Following the rental fee discussion, officials set the ribbon cutting for the William Walker Building for Thursday, Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. This will be followed 30 minutes later by Leitchfield VFW Post 12175’s unveiling of the new playground equipment in the city park. The event will feature light refreshments and a short program.
“I think people are going to enjoy those picnic tables and being outside and watching the kids play,” Henderson said.
In other business, the city commission:
